What is BIMS ?

Bims nedir ?

The wall blocks are produced nearly standardized with 10, 15, 19 and 25 cm wideness and with length and height which changes according to the mold. Its wideness  may be 35 cm at the big constructions as factories, dairies. The wall blocks which have 10 cm and 15 cm wideness are usually used at the inside partition constructing, the wall blocks which have more dimensions are used at outer front walls. The wideness of lightweight construction components that will be used at outer front walls, are related with climate of construction region.

The most important feature of wall blocks which were produced with pumice is lightness. Therefore the name of these blocks are usually known as Lightweight construction components”.  In order to apply this feature rightly, the pumice which forms the mortar of block must have been calibrated well and  it is possible with convenient mixture of  calibrated dimensions. Today a lot of manufacturers don’t feel any needs to sieving system which will provide calibration. The required values can not be obtained at  lightweight construction components which were produced without sieved raw bims.

 

Another subject; it is necessary to be equal of the mortar amount which was taken to the mold and compression pressure during the manufacturing process for each production.  To decrease of the mortar amount which was taken to the mold and to decrease the convenient pressure will cause the lightness of bims and the product won’t contain required endurance values. Another important subject is; lightweight construction components mustn’t contain any materials except bims, cement and water in its mixtures. But in order to decrease the amount of the cement, the producers use the endurance value faller elements as soil in the mixtures, as the smallest binding unit.

The lightweight construction components which are convenient the standarts, were manufactured by using the pumice mortar, have perfect physical and mechanics properties. These components are able to be use nearlly in all the places where the perlite is used.  The energy and investment that are used at perlite, as is not necessary at pumice and because of its durable against to the earthquake,  pumice products using at modern edifices are continue to increase with a growing fast.  Because of the distressing  earthquakes that were occurred in our country ; the construction sector started to give importance to lightweight construction components.

 
 

The pumice has as much density as the normal sand's and gravel 's 1/3 - 2/3 .   The same situation is seen at the concretes as well which was made with pumice.  At the constructions  the pumice concrete  provides economy, from the time and workmanship because of to be lighter than normal concrete. (Unit volume weight 800 - 900 kg / m3 ) Also it is possible to economize  from the iron  approximately 20 %, as the pumice will have decreased the burden which is added to the subbase.

Instead of sand-gravel mortar,   using ponza stone mortar, because of lightness of mortar causes less loading to the mechanical strength,  To use light weight products as block for down concrete and as wall materials, causes less concrete needs and the time and workmanship advantages which was provided from to use  orderly material causes decreasing at construction costs. Also directly gypsum, ceramic and similar coatings, mounting are able to be applied at the walls which were constructed with lightweight construction components. In the event of plaster applying,  cracking and blistering aren’t occurred at the  plaster at next years.

 
 

Heat permeability coefficient of pumice ( 0.33 - 0.80 kcal / mh 0C )  is plus more 5 – 7 times than normal concrete.  Because of its this feature, it provides considerable heat and energy economizing.  Because of the pumice’s pore shape, heat insulation of lightweight construction components which were produced from pumice, too much more than the others which were produced from the other materials.  The constructions which were built by using the pumice productions,  as it provides high heat insulation, it decreases considerably the expenses of heating and  cooling.  Also its perfection that shows for the voice insulation is offered to the constructions as an extra convenience.

The bims which was produced from pumice because of its durability against to the earthquake, less iron using at rough construction, fire durability, heat and voice insulation, easy workmanship, less workmanship cost, it has been more popular everday.

 
 

The block for down concrete is a nother kind of light weight construction component that was produced from pumice and it is used at story concrete. The block for down concrete decreases story concrete needs importantly.
